Amazon worth noting update AI agents

Amazon blocked the shopping agent Muse from Meta from accessing its store

Since 20 September 2026, Amazon has been blocking the shopping agent Muse from Meta from accessing its store — according to Amazon, the agent does not disclose that it is AI and stores data without consent. Amazon previously imposed similar restrictions on agents from Perplexity, Google and OpenAI.

New: The agent does not identify itself as AI while browsing the platform; It appears to store customer data without consent; Muse became the most downloaded free app in the US App Store within a week of launch (8 September 2026); Amazon also blocks agents from Perplexity, Google and OpenAI; Meta and Amazon remain business partners with a billion-scale deal for AI chips

What you get out of it

Users of the Muse app from Meta currently cannot shop on Amazon.com through the agent, and according to Amazon, their data may be stored without proper consent, without this being apparent during use.

VŠEM abolished traditional bachelor's theses, students now defend practical projects

In 2024, Vysoká škola ekonomie a managementu (VŠEM) became the first school in the Czech Republic to abolish mandatory bachelor's theses and replace them with the defence of practical projects – a response to the fact that language models can both write and evaluate texts.

What you get out of it

For students and junior employees (e.g. lawyers, programmers), the VŠEM case signals that AI can now handle writing and research tasks that previously demonstrated qualifications at a comparable quality and much faster, so practical application and the ability to adapt are valued more.

Minority language communities are building their own documentation and translation platforms with the help of AI

Communities of Hula, Tetun, and Dinka speakers have used AI coding tools to build their own language documentation and translation platforms (Vavanagi, Tulun, the Dinka–English dictionary) without linguists and software engineers.

What you get out of it

For individuals without a programming or linguistics background, a real possibility opens up to build and run a language tool for their own community with the help of AI, instead of waiting for an external organization or funding.

AWS described the procedure for training the vision-language model Qwen3-VL-8B using RL on SageMaker HyperPod

The AWS Machine Learning Blog described how to use the open-source framework SkyRL and the GRPO method to train the model Qwen3-VL-8B (Alibaba) on SageMaker HyperPod infrastructure. The success rate of solving the maze increased from 43.75% to more than 95%.

What you get out of it

Anyone preparing multi-turn RL training of multimodal models gets a ready-made technical blueprint — a specific combination of SkyRL, GRPO, LoRA, FSDP and vLLM, as well as recommended instance types.

US Senate hears witnesses on security and data access for the Flock ALPR system

A US Senate subcommittee addressed the security of and access to data from Flock's network of license-plate-reading (ALPR) cameras. Flock's CEO declined to attend the hearing, and testimony covered both weak data security and the case of a woman who spent 13 days in custody due to a misidentification.

What you get out of it

The hearing shows that vehicle movement data can be stored for up to a month and that misidentification can have real consequences, as illustrated by the case of a woman detained for 13 days due to a Flock system error.

Phenom tests an AI agent for detecting recruitment fraud with Alight Solutions

Since September 2025, Alight Solutions has been beta testing a tool from Phenom to detect fraudulent applicants; the agent detected a candidate applying twice under a different identity. The company sees the benefit primarily as time savings, rather than direct financial savings.

Part of an overview of multiple AI topics; only this event has been covered.

What you get out of it

For recruitment and HR professionals, it shows that the benefits of AI tools often emerge more as time savings than as clearly quantifiable financial savings, which needs to be considered when making the case for their deployment.

Meta adjusts AI chatbot following criticism over intrusive questions about children’s personal data

The Meta AI chatbot on Facebook and Instagram suggested prompts that pieced together personal data about a user’s children from multiple posts, including an allegedly deleted photo. Following a viral video by Kalie Robins, Meta acknowledged that the feature “missed the mark” and claims to have fixed the issue.

What you get out of it

Users of Meta platforms should be aware that AI features can automatically piece together personal data about children from multiple posts, including posts on relatives’ profiles, even from content the user thought they had deleted.

Guidelight AI Standards study: OpenAI leads in preparedness to contain uncontrollable models, Anthropic and Meta lag behind

Guidelight AI Standards evaluated five leading AI labs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, xAI) based on publicly available plans for containing a model that escapes control. OpenAI ranked highest, Anthropic and Meta lowest; most companies do not have a published, specific intervention plan.

What you get out of it

Anyone building on agentic AI systems with access to real systems should not automatically assume that the model provider has a prepared and tested procedure for shutting down the model if it gets out of control.

US Congress proposes special protections for whistleblowers reporting risks at AI companies

Senator Chuck Grassley introduced the AI Whistleblower Protection Act in May 2025, the first federal bill protecting employees of AI companies who report a serious risk even without a violation of the law. Similar protections are also included in an amendment to the NDAA and the Great American AI Act proposal.

What you get out of it

People working in AI development in the USA would, if the bill were passed, gain legal backing to report a “substantial and specific” danger without having to risk losing their jobs or equity stakes; this protection is currently proposed, not in force.

Commercial services creating AI clones of deceased people (thanabots) are expanding and sparking ethical disputes

Companies offer AI "thanabots" trained on the messages, photos and voices of deceased people for 199 to 50 000 USD. Microsoft has a patent for this from 2020, while HereAfter AI is currently shutting down its service.

What you get out of it

Anyone who wants to protect their digital footprint can explicitly specify during their lifetime whether and how their messages, photographs or voice may be used after death to create an AI clone.

Reddit as the leading source of citations for AI chatbots attracts spammers posting fake reviews

According to data from Semrush, Reddit was the most cited domain in May 2026 by the tools ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google Gemini/AI Mode. This attracts spammers — the account Primary-Taro4254 promoted Honeydew Labs and was exposed by users and moderators of r/SkincareAddiction.

What you get out of it

Reviews and recommendations on Reddit, which AI chatbots frequently cite, may be deliberately manipulated by marketing or spam accounts, so it is advisable to treat them with greater caution.
