Proton has informed employees of interviews focused on the use of AI at work. According to an internal email obtained by 404 Media, the interviews are scheduled to take place from 4 to 11 November. The documented assessments are intended to inform a broader review of the organization and its employees, which may lead to changes in roles, responsibilities and continued employment.

The process is not intended to cover all employees. Interviews are to be conducted by people outside the employee’s team and direct reporting line, selected from leaders with strong AI skills and using standardized assessment criteria. According to the email, CEO Andy Yen has already interviewed more than 40 leaders from engineering and product management in the initial phase.

According to Proton, the aim is to assess the ability to translate AI capabilities into better products, results and workflows. Individual decisions are to be communicated separately to employees once finalized. Proton did not immediately respond to a request for comment from 404 Media.
