Copilot Projects enables agents to work concurrently in fully managed sessions
According to GitHub, agents in Copilot Projects can work across repositories in fully managed concurrent sessions. The public preview in the GitHub Copilot app brings together task instructions, supporting materials and results for review.
In a new announcement, GitHub says that Copilot Projects in the GitHub Copilot app enables agents to work across multiple repositories in fully managed sessions that can run concurrently. Users can monitor progress, make decisions and determine next steps in one place.
The feature is available in public preview. Users create a project, describe the desired outcome, add repositories or other supporting materials, and select models and tools. Supporting materials can include designs, conversations from Slack or meeting notes. According to GitHub, agents work through the task and hand over results, such as pull requests, for review. Project automations are available for recurring tasks.
Why it matters
A change affecting several repositories can be managed as a single project with shared task instructions and supporting materials. Concurrent sessions allow multiple tasks in progress to be monitored together; accepting the results involves user review.
