AWS described a reference architecture for an enterprise agent platform on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore

only one source so far

AWS presented a reference design for an AI agent platform that separates central management from development teams. It includes operations across multiple accounts, separate gateways for models and tools, team budgets and automated evaluation before deployment.

AWS described the architecture and a reference implementation of an enterprise AI agent platform built on Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore. The Enterprise Agentic AI Platform Blueprint design separates the team managing the shared platform from the product and domain teams that own individual agents. Operations are designed to span multiple accounts and follow a repeatable deployment pattern. According to AWS, teams are intended to deploy changes independently and roll back to previous versions within preapproved limits.

Access to models goes through a gateway that restricts permitted models and regions and enforces team request limits, token quotas and budgets. A separate authenticated gateway using Model Context Protocol (MCP) controls access to approved tools. The design includes automated evaluation before production deployment; validation also covers rejecting unauthorized calls and the ability to restore the previous version. The operational overview is intended to enable tracking costs by agent and allocating them to teams or business units. Details can be found in the source article.

What changed

Why it matters

For organizations with multiple teams, the design offers a concrete basis for dividing responsibilities between platform administrators and agent owners. The controls described can serve as a basis for verifying whether independent team deployments comply with shared access and budget rules.

Two audiences, two different impacts

What this means

01

For individuals

Agent developers get a concrete checklist for production deployment: alongside successful calls, they should verify that calls to unauthorized models or tools are rejected and that the previous version can be restored.

What to do As part of deployment preparation, test whether unauthorized calls are rejected and verify that the previous version can be restored.

02

For a business

The design links individual team responsibilities to budgets and cost allocation, so managing the enterprise platform also includes financial oversight of agent operations.

What to decide When assessing the design, identify the owners of team budgets and how agent costs will be allocated.
