Adobe added an AI feature to open closed eyes in the Lightroom mobile app
The new Open Eyes feature in the Lightroom mobile app corrects closed eyes using generative AI and reference photos of the same person. It is available for iOS, iPadOS and Android; the free version offers two tries.
Adobe has made the Open Eyes feature available in the Lightroom mobile app to open closed eyes in photos. It works on iOS, iPadOS and Android. If the app detects closed eyes in an individual or a group of people, it offers a quick action icon above the photo.
Generative AI creates replacement eyes using other photos of the same person in the Lightroom library. The result is intended to match the lighting and face position, as well as the color, size and shape of the subject’s eyes. According to DPReview, which the article links to, the free version allows two tries. After that, the app offers an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription with additional credits for AI tools.
Why it matters
Correcting a portrait or group photo is available directly in the mobile app as a quick action. According to the article, a similar edit can also be made in Photoshop, but it requires more steps.
Two audiences, two different impacts
What this means
For individuals
Users can try to salvage an otherwise good photo with closed eyes directly on a phone or tablet.
For a business
When using this correction repeatedly for business photo editing, subscription and credit terms affect costs; the free version offers only two tries.
