AI proctoring failure led to mass retesting at the Mexican university UNAM

The Mexican university UNAM conducted remote entrance exams using AI proctoring and a lockdown browser. The proportion of students scoring 100+ rose from a historical 3.5 % to 16.3 %; an experienced committee suspects widespread cheating. Retaking the exams has been recommended; up to 58 000 candidates will take the test again in person.

Alibaba introduced the model Qwen3.8-Max with 2.4 trillion parameters for autonomously completing long-term tasks

Alibaba has published the model Qwen3.8-Max (2.4 trillion parameters, 95 billion active). According to the company, it autonomously created a tool in 16 days (265 commits), reproduced and surpassed the results of a scientific paper, and performed successfully in a Tianchi competition against 526 teams. AI voice systems in US drive-throughs struggle with order accuracy

Around 6% of US fast-food restaurants now use AI voice agents. Taco Bell is deploying AI at 890 locations, Dairy Queen in 25 states, and White Castle uses the agent Julia. According to an Intouch Insight survey, AI systems are less accurate and friendly than people, especially with accents and dialects.
