China considering easing import controls on Nvidia chips for Alibaba and ByteDance

China is considering easing restrictions on imports of Nvidia chips. According to sources close to the negotiations with the Ministry of Industry, Alibaba and ByteDance have requested plans to purchase RTX Pro 5500 chips, which could be built into servers for Chinese AI models. The easing could potentially allow the purchase of millions of additional chips next year.
