Napster and Gems Education launch digital AI personas of teachers in Dubai
Napster, after pivoting from a music streaming service to an AI platform, is launching digital AI personas of teachers with Gems Education in Dubai, trained on their materials and intended to provide students with round-the-clock support.
Napster announced a strategic partnership with Gems Education in Dubai to develop AI agents and digital personas for education. According to the company, digital twins of teachers will be trained on their own materials, courses and texts and are intended to provide students with round-the-clock support, meaning 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Students will be able to consult them outside class, while teachers are expected to gain insight into what students are asking about and where they need additional support.
Today, Napster has nothing in common with the original music service from 1999 except its name — following a series of lawsuits over copyright infringement, the original service was shut down in 2001, and the company underwent several transformations. In 2025, Infinite Reality bought it for 207 million dollars and refocused it as an AI platform; in January 2026, Napster completely discontinued its music streaming service. The regional hub in Dubai is led by Samuel Huber, formerly the founder and CEO of Landvault (which Infinite Reality acquired in 2024), now CEO of Napster for the Middle East and Africa region.
The first phase of the project is taking place at Gems School of Research and Innovation as part of Gems Global Education AI Hub and the Gems Intelligence 360 platform, where teachers, students and partners are expected to jointly design and test AI agents and digital personas. Napster is providing development capabilities built on the Napster Learn system for this purpose. According to the company, student data remains in the country concerned and can be hosted on the customer's own servers if needed; the company also claims that it does not use user data to train its AI models.
According to the article, the expansion of Napster into the region is linked to the ambitions of the United Arab Emirates in agentic AI — in May 2026, the government approved a federal framework for deploying agentic AI across ministries, with the aim of shifting half of government services to agentic models within two years. Napster also wants to enter this market through a partnership with the Dubai investment platform Kameha Ventures, which is expected to handle localization of the offering. Why it matters
The project illustrates a concrete commercial deployment of the concept of an expert's “digital twin” — an AI persona trained on materials from a specific person, intended to scale that person's availability to a large number of people. According to Napster, this is about supplementing teachers, not replacing them, an issue also relevant to other industries considering similar uses of AI to expand the capacity of experts.

What this means
For a business
The project demonstrates a business model in which a company, after pivoting from another sector, builds on AI agents trained on materials from specific experts (in this case teachers) with the aim of scaling their capacity and offering round-the-clock support to end users (students) — relevant as a reference example for companies in education or corporate training.
