Oracle declares force majeure on the Stargate Project Jupiter data center in New Mexico
Oracle sent a force majeure notice to the developer of Project Jupiter (the Stargate data center in New Mexico) over pipeline and permitting delays. It allows Oracle to defer payments if the center does not come online by 2028.
Delays in energy and regulatory approvals for the Jupiter project increase the risk that the 2028 launch target for one of Stargate's flagship data centers will slip, which is relevant for companies planning long-term dependency on compute capacity from this project or from OpenAI.
