Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, said on a call with investors that the company is considering expanding iCloud Plus plans for users with higher usage of Apple Intelligence and Siri AI. No specific plan or price has been announced yet.

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, said during an earnings call on Thursday that he believes people will want to use Apple Intelligence and the upcoming Siri AI “a lot”, adding that the company “will have some upgrade options within iCloud Plus, where people will be able to buy a higher tier”. So far, this is only a hint at a plan; no specific plan or price has been announced.

In the fall, Apple will make Siri AI more widely available alongside iOS 27. The new Siri AI is expected to be able to answer questions about content on the screen and perform actions across apps. This also includes a standalone Siri AI app with an interface resembling ChatGPT.

According to Apple, its AI features, including image generation, already have daily usage limits because they rely on powerful server-side models. The company said in June that expanded access is included in most iCloud Plus plans – a new paid tier would therefore go beyond the current offering.

For the last quarter, Apple reported revenue from its services segment, which includes subscriptions such as iCloud Plus, Apple TV and Apple One, of 30.74 billion dollars.

What changed

Why it matters

If Apple were to actually introduce this change, users who want to use AI features beyond the current daily limits would have to pay for a higher iCloud Plus plan. For Apple, this would be another way to monetize AI features within its growing services segment, but the company has not yet committed to a specific date or price.
