T-Mobile has deployed VoiceBot, an AI voice assistant, on its customer helpline in the Czech Republic. Following testing by employees, it began helping customers with selected billing and service inquiries in July. According to the company, it is intended to understand specific questions and answer them directly. The company is still checking whether it understands customers correctly; people continue to handle more complex cases.
Expansion to cover more topics will depend on operational results, which the company describes as promising. The deployment is part of the OneBot project at the Deutsche Telekom group, in which the Czech branch of T-Mobile plays a leading role. The group is working with Wonderful.ai and plans to develop the project in other countries as well.
Why it matters
The deployment shifts the handling of some telephone inquiries to an AI assistant. Further expansion will hinge on correctly understanding customers, which the company is currently verifying; handling more complex cases remains the responsibility of staff.
