Starting Wednesday, Spotify is launching the Taste Profile feature in the US for Premium subscribers (18+), allowing users to adjust the recommendation algorithm for music, podcasts, and audiobooks using natural language. The feature also affects Discover Weekly and Spotify Wrapped and is currently in beta.

Starting Wednesday, Spotify is rolling out the Taste Profile feature to Spotify Premium subscribers in the US aged 18 and older. The feature allows users to use natural language to adjust how the company's algorithm understands their musical and listening taste, thereby influencing recommendations across music, podcasts, and audiobooks. According to Spotify, this is the same mechanism that determines the content of the Discover Weekly playlist, the Made for You section, and the annual Spotify Wrapped recap. The US is Spotify's largest market by traffic and revenue, making this the feature's biggest test yet.

In the app, Taste Profile opens via the profile icon, where the user sees how Spotify currently understands their taste, and in the "Tell us more" field they can write the desired adjustment — for example, interest in a new genre or era, a different mood of tracks, or a change in podcast and audiobook recommendations. According to the company, the updated recommendations on the home page will appear within a few hours. According to the article, the feature can also be used to remove unwanted patterns in recommendations, such as music played only while sleeping or tracks listened to by someone else on a shared account (a child in the car, etc.).

The feature was first introduced in March 2026 at the SXSW conference by Spotify co-CEO Gustav Söderström, and the beta version was first available in New Zealand. Previously, Spotify only offered the option to exclude specific tracks or playlists from a profile and a toggle preventing music listened to by children from affecting their parents' recommendations. Taste Profile in the US remains, according to the company, still in beta, and the company has not stated when it will be available to a wider group of users.

What changed

Why it matters

The feature gives users a direct tool to correct inaccurate algorithm recommendations using text, without having to delete individual tracks or playlists — this also applies to what Spotify shows them in Discover Weekly or the annual Wrapped. This is a consumer-facing feature with no documented direct impact on company operations or costs beyond Spotify itself.
