Qlik described source retrieval and answer checking in Qlik Answers
According to Qlik, Qlik Answers retrieves source material from unstructured content using Amazon OpenSearch Service and adds citations. Amazon Bedrock Guardrails then compares generated answers with the sources used.
Qlik described the architecture of Qlik Answers on the AWS Machine Learning Blog. According to the company, the system distinguishes between queries about unstructured content and structured data. For the first group, it retrieves relevant source material using Amazon OpenSearch Service and adds citations to the resulting answers. It routes queries about structured data to the conversational analytics branch.
According to the company, retrieving source material alone is not enough to ensure accuracy. The tool therefore uses the contextual grounding feature in Amazon Bedrock Guardrails, which compares generated answers with the content of the sources used. Checking whether answers are supported by sources is thus a separate step after retrieval. According to the article, Qlik Answers has been generally available since February 2026.
Why it matters
The described architecture provides a concrete model for business assistants: finding a relevant document is complemented by a check of whether the final answer is actually based on it. Separating queries also shows how to combine work with documents and structured data analytics in a single tool.
Two audiences, two different impacts
What this means
For individuals
Users of Qlik Answers receive citations with answers based on unstructured content, allowing them to locate the source material and assess a specific conclusion.
For a business
According to the described architecture, companies using Qlik Answers have an automatic check in the answer generation process to verify consistency with the sources used. This is a specific control mechanism for the risk of unsupported answers, not a proven guarantee of accuracy.
