Pinterest launches the Restyle feature in beta for AI interior edits
Pinterest is testing the Restyle feature in the USA and Canada, using AI to let users visualize interior changes — furniture, colors, styles — directly on a photo of their own room.
Pinterest announced the beta launch of a feature called Restyle, currently available in the USA and Canada as an early preview, with a wider rollout planned for next month. The feature is built on Pinterest Intelligence, which the company says combines Nvidia Blackwell GPU and Nvidia Dynamo with open-source models and proprietary technology from Pinterest.
Users can take a photo of their own room and use prompts to have AI add wall art, furniture, accessories or decorative elements, including items found on Pinterest, or change the lighting, wall color or plants. Individual objects in the room can also be replaced, removed from the image or edited further with a click. Alternatively, users can ask AI to visualize the room in a different style, such as “bohemian”, “industrial” or “whimsical”.
According to the company, the aim is to move users from simply finding inspiration to buying products saved to boards by helping them imagine those products in their own space. The feature was introduced at the Pinterest Presents event, where the company also unveiled new advertising tools for visual search and app promotion.
Why it matters
For everyday Pinterest users, this is a tool that makes decisions about furnishing a home easier — instead of imagining the result, they can see a concrete visualization in their own space. For furniture and décor businesses, it potentially increases the conversion rate from saved ideas to actual purchases, which is also the stated goal of Pinterest.
Two audiences, two different impacts
What this means
For individuals
Pinterest users in the USA and Canada can try the Restyle feature in an early beta and use it to visualize changes in their own home before making a purchase.
For a business
Companies selling furniture and décor showcased on Pinterest can expect a higher conversion rate from inspiration to purchase thanks to the Restyle feature, because customers can visualize products directly in their own space.
