Perplexity expands its agentic tool Personal Computer to Windows
Perplexity has launched Personal Computer for Windows – an agent with access to local files, applications and Microsoft 365. It is available on the paid Max and Enterprise Max plans starting at 200 dollars per month.
Perplexity has expanded its agentic tool Personal Computer to Windows. According to the company, the tool acts as a “general-purpose digital worker” that has access to local files and applications and can perform tasks such as creating documents or editing spreadsheets on behalf of users. The Windows version follows the Mac version, which Perplexity launched in April.
The launch follows integrations of Personal Computer with Microsoft 365 and the communication tool Teams, which Perplexity introduced in May. According to the company, the Windows version is intended to close a gap by working directly in the Windows environment, because business tasks typically take place locally on Windows devices “beyond the reach of AI”. Perplexity said that Microsoft users can now have Computer work across local files, Microsoft 365 and the web in one place.
Personal Computer for Windows is becoming available starting today to paying users of the Max and Enterprise Max plans, with prices starting at 200 dollars per month. According to Perplexity, the tool does not train on company data and always alerts users before sensitive actions, such as sending emails or deleting files.
Why it matters
For companies using Windows and Microsoft 365, this offers an agent capable of working directly with local files and company data, which has so far been beyond the reach of similar AI tools. However, the price starting at 200 dollars per month and the restriction to the Max and Enterprise Max plans place the tool among expensive enterprise solutions, rather than ordinary consumer products. The claims about not training on company data and alerting users before sensitive actions are so far only statements from Perplexity, not independently verified facts.
