OpenAI globally rolls out virtual clothing try-on and the Favorites feature in the ChatGPT product
The ChatGPT product now lets you virtually try on clothing and accessories using your own photo and save selected products using the Favorites feature. OpenAI announced the global availability of both features.
OpenAI announced the global rollout of two shopping features in the ChatGPT product. Virtual try-on lets you upload your own selfie or full-body photo and create a preview of how a selected piece of clothing or accessory might look on you.
A "try on" button appears in shopping results. Users can also upload an image of an item, such as a screenshot from a website, and request a virtual try-on. The Favorites feature saves selected products to the Library section, where, according to OpenAI, images from virtual try-on are also stored.
According to OpenAI, both new features use the ChatGPT Images 2.5 model. The company claims this model produces more natural lighting and richer textures, follows editing instructions more reliably, and shortens image generation time.
Why it matters
When choosing clothing online, users can create a visual preview on their own photo. They can also save selected products to return to later, which makes gradual shopping decisions easier.
