Nvidia unveiled the RTX Spark chip and the first laptops featuring it at IFA 2026 in Berlin. It is an Arm-based SoC that combines Grace CPU (up to 20 cores) and Blackwell RTX GPU (up to 6144 cores) in a single package with shared memory – similar to Apple Silicon chips, unlike the conventional arrangement of a CPU and a discrete GPU in typical Windows laptops. According to an estimate by the article's author, based purely on core counts, the integrated GPU would theoretically deliver performance somewhere between RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5080 in current laptops; battery life figures have not yet been released. The chip is designed to run agentic AI workflows, such as OpenClaw, locally without reliance on the cloud.
The first model tested is Lenovo Yoga 9n 2-in-1 – a 16-inch laptop with a 360-degree hinge, an OLED touchscreen with a resolution of 2880×1800 at 120 Hz, six-channel audio, a 9.2Mpx webcam and a thickness of 0.69 inches; it supports up to 64 GB of memory. Lenovo is also preparing the 15-inch Yoga Pro 9n model with a 2560×1600 OLED display, a thickness of 0.66 inches, a Force Pad touchpad supporting pen input and configurations with up to 128 GB of memory.
The lineup of laptops with the RTX Spark chip, which are due to reach the market in the autumn, will also include Dell XPS 16, Asus ProArt P16 and Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra – these models have so far only been announced without detailed specifications. According to the source, pricing for RTX Spark laptops remains unknown, which the author describes as the most important missing information; given the currently high prices of RAM, these are not expected to be inexpensive devices.
Why it matters
The RTX Spark chip enables agentic AI tasks to run directly on a laptop without the need to send data to the cloud, which is particularly relevant when working with sensitive personal or company data. However, information on pricing and battery life is still missing, so it is premature to assess whether these devices will offer better value for money in terms of performance than competing solutions such as MacBook Pro or laptops with AMD chips.
Two audiences, two different impacts
What this means
For individuals
Those interested in a laptop for running AI agents locally are getting the first specific models (Lenovo Yoga 9n/Yoga Pro 9n) with specifications, but without pricing, it is not yet possible to assess whether buying one is worthwhile compared with alternatives such as MacBook Pro.
More practical updates →For a business
Laptops with the RTX Spark chip target the segment for local agentic AI without reliance on the cloud, which is relevant for companies processing sensitive data (finances, emails), but device pricing has not yet been disclosed, so purchasing decisions can only be deferred for now while developments are monitored.
