Maia assistant has over 400 thousand users, according to Rohlik Group, and supports payment authorization
According to Rohlik Group, the Maia assistant has over 400 thousand users and has handled more than 750 thousand transactions. During a conversation, it assembles a basket, selects a delivery slot and authorizes payment using a saved card. If 3D Secure is not required, the purchase can be completed within a single environment.
According to Katarína Turnová, head of payments and fraud prevention at Rohlik Group, the Maia shopping assistant has over 400 thousand users, and the number of transactions made through it has exceeded 750 thousand. The figures were presented at Innovation Week. The company made the assistant available to customers in mid-May.
The Maia assistant can assemble a basket, select a delivery slot and authorize payment using a saved payment card during a conversation. According to Turnová, the retailer uses tokenized card details. If the bank does not require additional verification through 3D Secure, the purchase takes place within a single environment without redirecting the customer to an external payment gateway. The assistant can be used through WhatsApp or by voice and also helps resolve problems with orders.
Why it matters
Conversational shopping also includes completing an order and authorizing payment, so customers can go beyond product recommendations. However, the ability to complete the entire purchase within a single environment depends on whether the bank requires additional verification.
Two audiences, two different impacts
What this means
For individuals
When shopping through the Maia assistant, customers can specify items and a delivery slot in the conversation and use a saved card to authorize payment.
For a business
For Rohlik Group, conversational customer service also includes a payment process using tokenized card details. A requirement for 3D Secure affects whether an order can proceed through to payment within a single environment.
