The Intelligent UI interface in ChatGPT adds interactive charts and calculators
The new Intelligent UI interface in ChatGPT generates diagrams with buttons, interactive charts and calculators tailored to the question. The author of the Wired article tried several such responses. The global rollout starts on Wednesday.
OpenAI has introduced the Intelligent UI interface for ChatGPT, which generates custom visual and interactive elements based on the question. These include charts, editable diagrams, buttons and calculators for specific tasks. According to OpenAI, these responses are intended to make complex topics easier to understand. Visual elements are not intended to appear in every response, and users can ask for fewer of them.
During a brief test, the author of the Wired article used an anatomical diagram of a slug with buttons for individual body parts and a housing affordability calculator for San Francisco. Sliders allowed the author to change income and expenses and see what share of net income would go toward rent. In its own demonstration, OpenAI also showed diagrams explaining how an aircraft wing generates lift.
The interface accompanies the global rollout of GPT-6. According to the TechCrunch article, the rollout starts on Wednesday for the Pro, Plus, Business and Enterprise plans; the free plan and the Go plan are expected to follow on Thursday. The sources describe the schedule differently: the Wired article gives Wednesday for paying users in general, while the TechCrunch article places the cheaper Go plan in the Thursday rollout.
Why it matters
An interactive response lets users change input values and see the result directly in a calculator or explore individual parts of a diagram. The documented examples show uses for learning and comparing personal expenses; for now, broader benefits for understanding complex topics are described by OpenAI.

What this means
For individuals
Users can adjust the number of visual elements to suit how they work: if charts and diagrams get in their way, they can ask for fewer of them.
