Instinct is introducing the option to add an AI agent to group chats with friends. The feature is initially being made available to early-access users. According to the company, friends without an account can also participate, and the agent can help with tasks such as planning trips, getting tickets or organizing shared rides.
According to founder Noah Shinn, the group agent does not have access to participants’ personal accounts. The personal agent asks for consent before connecting to the group agent and before sharing information or taking an action. Users can decide which groups they trust and revoke that trust at any time. According to Shinn, when new members join, any responses from the personal agent intended for the group that have not yet been sent are put on hold.
The company plans to make the feature available to all users “soon” but does not give a specific date. Those interested can ask their agent to add them to the list to try the feature.
Why it matters
Friends can use an agent together to make plans in a single conversation without everyone needing their own account, according to the company. The described requests for consent give individuals control over which personal information reaches the group; however, this is a claim by the founder about how the service works.

What this means
For individuals
If you are planning a trip or a shared ride with friends, you can invite an agent directly into the group chat as part of the gradual rollout. According to the company, other participants do not need to create an account to take part.
