Google announced DevFest 2026 focused on developing and securing AI agents
Google and the Google Developer Groups network announced DevFest 2026 – over 800 community events in 115 countries from 1 October to 31 December 2026, focused on practical work with Gemini, Google AI Studio and Google Antigravity under the theme of secure AI agent development.
Google, together with the Google Developer Groups (GDG) community network, announced the DevFest 2026 event series, which will run from 1 October to 31 December 2026. According to the company, it is the largest community-led technology conference in the world, with this year's theme being “Build, Secure, Scale: Developers and Builders in the Agentic Era”. Over 800 individual events are planned in 115 countries.
The program focuses on practical work with tools from Google, including Gemini, Google AI Studio, Google Antigravity, Google Cloud, Firebase, Android, Flutter, Angular and Web MCP. Participants are to try them through live codelabs, workshops and so-called agent-athons. This year's edition is built around three themes: easier building thanks to new tools, an emphasis on secure and responsible AI deployment, and access to production-ready infrastructure.
According to the organizers, each GDG group manages its own events locally, adapting the program to the needs of its region and technology community, with Google overseeing the overall initiative. Details about specific events and registration are available in DevFest Event Directory.
Why it matters
The events offer developers free access to practical workshops and codelabs with current tools from Google for developing AI agents, which may accelerate the adoption of these technologies outside corporate training. For companies, this is an opportunity to let teams try tools such as Google Antigravity or Google AI Studio in practice before potentially deploying them in their own projects.
Two audiences, two different impacts
What this means
For individuals
Developers and novice creators can gain practical experience with Gemini, Google AI Studio and Google Antigravity tools at local DevFest 2026 events through codelabs, workshops and so-called agent-athons focused on secure and scalable development with AI agents.
For a business
Companies can use local DevFest community events to let their development teams try Google tools for agentic development (Gemini, Google AI Studio, Google Antigravity, Google Cloud) through workshops and codelabs, without this constituting a direct change to a product or process.
