GitHub made the Customize tab in the GitHub Copilot app available to all users
The Customize tab in the GitHub Copilot app is now generally available. It brings MCP servers, plugins, skills and canvases together in one place, offering both a recommended Featured selection and browsing by type.
GitHub announced that the Customize tab in the GitHub Copilot app is now generally available. The tab brings together MCP servers, plugins, skills and canvases in one place, whereas previously they had to be found and configured separately.
It includes a Featured view, which the company says offers curated customizations across the app as an easier starting point for users who do not know in advance which MCP server, plugin, skill or canvas they need. Users can also browse dedicated sections by customization type and look for options that match their way of working.
According to the company, Featured canvases help users move from understanding the work to carrying it out while keeping relevant context visible — examples include triaging issues, prioritizing the backlog, assigning tasks and handing work over to the Copilot agent for investigation, implementation or preparation for review. According to the company, the goal is to enable users to adapt Copilot to the tools, knowledge and workflows the team already uses.
Why it matters
Bringing MCP servers, plugins, skills and canvases together in one place makes it easier for developers to find and configure tools that extend GitHub Copilot with context and specific workflows. The Featured view lowers the barrier for users who are unfamiliar with a particular customization and enables teams to align how individual members customize the tool.
Two audiences, two different impacts
