First test of Dots shows work on a user's own computer and the need for human help
The latest test of Dots shows it preparing website changes and the option to access a user's own computer. When ordering an internet service, however, the agent needed human help. Users currently have one agent; sources continue to disagree on the price of the Pro plan.
The latest test in The Verge confirms that a Dots user currently has one agent. Its cloud computer offers Blender and GIMP; users can also give it access to their own computer through the ChatGPT desktop app. The author of the test worked with the agent on a new design for her website and requested changes by voice. When ordering an internet service, however, she had to take over the browser to complete a human verification check. She ultimately entered her banking details and completed the order herself.
OpenAI introduced Dots as continuously running agents powered by GPT-6 Astra. According to OpenAI, they can conduct research, analyze data, prepare documents or work on software using their own cloud computer, browser and more than 4 000 supported apps. Users communicate with them through ChatGPT, Slack and Microsoft Teams. Support for text messages and simultaneous use of multiple agents are still planned features.
Access is being rolled out gradually for the Pro and Business Premium plans. According to The Decoder, the Pro plan currently does not provide access in the European Economic Area, Switzerland or the United Kingdom; the Business Premium plan provides access in all supported regions. For Enterprise, Edu and Healthcare customers, the article reports beta access once enabled by an administrator. A source labeled as a correction gives the price of the Pro plan as 20 USD per month, calling into question the previously reported figure of 100 USD per month. However, the latest test again quotes 100 USD per month, so the sources do not confirm a consistent price or an actual price reduction. One agent is included in the subscription; according to OpenAI, conversations with it do not count toward ChatGPT limits, but tasks it launches in Codex and ChatGPT Work count as usual.
According to OpenAI, the agent uses only read-only tools when independently looking for opportunities to help. For active tasks, users can configure Custom Rules that allow, prohibit or require approval for individual actions. OpenAI also acknowledges that errors occur and recommends checking results that have real-world consequences. Specialized business agents are being introduced in pilot projects; additional agents, higher speed and a greater volume of work are expected to incur charges later.
Why it matters
Dots lets users delegate ongoing work with apps and files, but the latest test shows that routine orders may still require a person to take over. The regional restriction matters for Pro subscribers in the Czech Republic. During a pilot deployment, companies need to monitor usage of connected tools alongside access permissions, because conversations themselves and launched tasks count toward limits differently.

Two audiences, two different impacts
What this means
For individuals
When working on your own website, you can discuss the design with the agent as you go and request further changes by voice. For purchases and orders, the published test indicates that you should expect to complete them manually and check whether the agent has overlooked a better option.
For a business
Delegating ongoing work tasks means the company needs to manage agent permissions, approvals for sensitive actions and review of results. Tasks launched in Codex and ChatGPT Work also continue to count toward the standard limits of those tools.
