Compliance API now provides access to saved member instructions for organizations with Claude Enterprise
The Compliance API now returns the text of instructions that organization members have saved in claude.ai and Cowork. The feature is in beta for organizations with Claude Enterprise and requires the read:compliance_user_data permission.
The Compliance API now allows organizations to retrieve the text of saved instructions for individual members. This includes the Instructions for Claude setting in claude.ai and Global instructions in Cowork. The feature is available in beta for organizations with Claude Enterprise.
Instructions are retrieved using the GET /v1/compliance/organizations/{org_uuid}/user_preferences request. Access uses the existing Compliance Access Key and requires the read:compliance_user_data permission.
Why it matters
Organizations can also include saved instructions from individual members in checks conducted through the API. Access to these texts requires the appropriate key and permission.

For individuals
Members of organizations with Claude Enterprise must keep in mind when saving instructions that their text can be retrieved through the company Compliance API.
For a business
Company compliance processes can now retrieve saved member instructions from both claude.ai and Cowork through a single interface.
