Circleback launches a free meeting transcription plan and lowers paid plan prices
Circleback introduced a free plan with unlimited meeting transcription and a 30-day history and reduced paid plan prices from $20.83 to $14 per month. This is a response to growing competition from Granola, Read AI and Fireflies.
Startup Circleback, which offers AI meeting transcription and notes, has launched a free plan. It allows an unlimited number of transcribed meetings, access to the past 30 days of history, a mobile app and an Apple Watch app, AI queries about transcripts, and integration with Linear and Slack. Competitor Granola introduced a similar free tier a few months ago.
Paid plans, which offer all integrations, unlimited meeting history and full access to API and MCP, now start at $14 per month when billed annually, according to the company — the previous lowest price was $20.83 per month. Founder Ali Haghani said the previous limited trial period led to significant user churn, which was the main reason for introducing the free plan. The company says it does not advertise through Google Ads or Meta Ads, and the free plan is intended to replace marketing spending.
Circleback was founded in 2023 by Ali Haghani and Kevin Jacyna, and in 2024 the company raised $2.5 million in investment. According to the company, it has been profitable since 2024 and, with a team of eight people, has a revenue run rate of over $1 million per employee, or roughly $8 million annually. Haghani said the company is not currently planning another funding round, despite investor interest, because he sees no barriers to further growth.
The market for meeting note-taking tools is crowded, according to the source — alongside Circleback, it includes Granola, Read AI and Fireflies, while dictation app Wispr and scheduling tool Calendly have recently added similar features.
Why it matters
For individuals and teams considering an automated meeting note-taking and transcription tool, the barrier to entry is lower — they can try the product for free without a time-limited trial. For companies purchasing such licenses in bulk, the price reduction of just under a third for the lowest-priced paid plan (from $20.83 to $14 per month) is significant and may influence decisions when choosing between Circleback and competitors such as Granola, Read AI or Fireflies.
Two audiences, two different impacts

Companies buying automated meeting note-taking tools now have access to a cheaper paid Circleback plan ($14 instead of $20.83 per month) as well as a free option for pilot deployment without having to purchase licenses immediately.
