Bolt introduces ride booking through a plugin in ChatGPT
Bolt has launched ride booking through a plugin in ChatGPT, available in Czechia too. It displays the price, route and driver arrival, and the booking is completed in the Bolt app; according to the company, payment through ChatGPT is expected to be added later this year.
Bolt has launched the option to book a ride directly through ChatGPT. The feature is available globally, so customers in Czechia can also use it, as can those in Switzerland, Ukraine or Azerbaijan, for example. To use it, users must first install the Bolt plugin in ChatGPT from the app store.
After installation, users can see the estimated ride price in the conversation, compare routes and find out when the driver will arrive. The conversation also suggests the most suitable pickup location, which the company says should reduce waiting time. The details entered are transferred to the Bolt app, where the booking is completed — payment directly through ChatGPT is not yet possible, and the company says it wants to launch this option later this year.
In explaining the move, Bolt cites a survey by Accenture, according to which 80 % of travelers worldwide now use AI to plan trips, including trips abroad, and more than half of them are willing to let AI fully manage the organization of their trip. According to Bolt, this is the first instance of a ride-hailing platform launching such an integration with ChatGPT.
Why it matters
For everyday users, this shortens the process of booking a ride — it eliminates switching between apps, although completion and payment still require the Bolt app. For companies providing on-demand services, it is a concrete example of how their own service can be made available directly in a conversational AI assistant as a new sales channel.
Two audiences, two different impacts
What this means
For individuals
ChatGPT users in Czechia and other countries can now book a Bolt ride directly in the conversation after installing the plugin, but completing the booking and paying still take place in the Bolt app.
For a business
According to the source, the integration of Bolt into ChatGPT is the first instance of a ride-hailing platform connecting its service to a conversational AI assistant in this way — it sets a precedent for companies considering a similar distribution channel.
