Anthropic merged Claude chat and Cowork into a unified interface with new features for documents and presentations

only one source so far

Anthropic has merged Claude chat and Cowork into a single interface and added features for creating and sharing presentations and documents. Initially for Pro and Max plans, with free and team plans to follow later.

Anthropic has merged the frontend of the Claude chat product and the Cowork tool into a unified interface. Users can now access chat, Cowork, and the Artifacts feature (the interactive workspace in Claude) in a single window without having to switch between tabs. According to the company, customers previously often had trouble choosing the right tab for a given task; the new interface automatically routes requests between the individual features. The interface also supports the Claude Design tool, introduced in April for designing websites and prototypes.

The update includes new features for creating presentations and documents. Users can ask Claude to create, edit, and present slides and download the result as PDF or PowerPoint. The Docs feature lets users create documents together with Claude, add sections, ask questions, and comment on completed parts. Finished documents and presentations can be shared via a link and edited on a phone; users can start creating a document on a computer and follow its progress through the mobile app.

According to the company, the new features are rolling out first to users of the Pro and Max plans on the web and in the desktop and mobile apps over the coming weeks. Free and team plans are due to receive them later. The update follows an earlier improvement to the memory layer in Cowork, which helps Claude retain user context across conversations.

What changed

Why it matters

Merging the interfaces removes the need to switch between the chat and Cowork tabs, simplifying everyday work with Claude. The new features for presentations and documents, with export to PDF or PowerPoint and support for sharing and mobile editing, expand Claude with office tools that may replace some work in standalone applications.
