Outmarket, a startup developing an AI tool for automating administration in commercial insurance, has raised $34.5 million in Series B funding. The round was led by investment firm SignalFire, with participation from Fika Ventures, Permanent Capital Ventures, TTV Capital, and Dash Fund. According to a person familiar with the investment, the round valued Outmarket at $355 million. The new round came four months after the previous Series A round of $17 million.

Outmarket was founded at the end of 2023 by Vishal Sankhala, previously head of product at digital life insurance provider Ethos and a former employee of Facebook and Uber. The product focuses on commercial insurance, where, according to the company, there are over 250 types of insurance coverage and the processing procedure remains highly manual. The tool is designed to automate administrative tasks for brokers (organizations such as Marsh and Aon) and to quickly evaluate and recommend the most suitable policies.

According to Outmarket, since the launch of its new product 14 months ago, the tool has had over 300 insurance agencies as customers, including 25% of the top 100 agencies. Other startups also operate in the market for vertical AI tools for insurance brokers, specifically Fulcrum AI and Further AI. According to Sankhala, the US property and casualty insurance market, which the article states reaches an annual volume of over a trillion dollars, offers the company room for further growth.
