OpenAI makes GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna available on the Amazon Bedrock platform
GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna from OpenAI are now generally available on the Amazon Bedrock platform at lower prices than GPT-5.6; according to OpenAI, GPT-6 Sol makes about half as many factual errors as GPT-5.6 Sol.
GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna from OpenAI are now generally available on the Amazon Bedrock platform. According to Amazon Web Services (AWS), both models offer significantly lower API prices than their GPT-5.6 predecessors, but the source provides no exact figures or specific rates.
GPT-6 Sol is designed for demanding and recurring tasks in development and operations: feature implementation, debugging, refactoring and code review, data analysis, and workflows involving multiple tasks across tools and applications. According to OpenAI, it has improved over GPT-5.6 Sol, particularly in coding and computer use. GPT-6 Luna, in contrast, focuses on high volumes of simple tasks, such as extracting information from documents, summarization, input classification, or answering queries across large numbers of users, with an emphasis on optimizing latency and costs; its reasoning effort level can be adjusted to suit each request.
According to an internal factuality test conducted by OpenAI, GPT-6 Sol makes approximately half as many factual errors as GPT-5.6 Sol. Both models on Amazon Bedrock support explicit prompt caching, which allows the same instructions, tool definitions, or reference materials to be reused without processing them again.
AWS further states that access to the models can be managed using AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) and audited through AWS CloudTrail, traffic can be restricted to a network using VPC endpoints with AWS PrivateLink, and inference runs on hardware-isolated infrastructure without operator access. According to the company, inference data is not used to train models, and using GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna does not require sharing data with OpenAI; AWS retains traffic flagged by abuse classifiers for up to 30 days, and customers can request zero data retention.
Why it matters
Customers of the Amazon Bedrock platform gain access to a newer generation of models from OpenAI at a lower price than the previous GPT-5.6 series, with enterprise security controls and a choice of model based on the task type (demanding and recurring tasks vs. high volumes of simple tasks). Prompt caching and adjustable reasoning effort enable lower costs for repeated queries, which is particularly relevant to companies running AI at scale on AWS infrastructure.
Two audiences, two different impacts
What this means
For individuals
Developers working with the Amazon Bedrock platform gain another model choice based on the task type: assign more demanding tasks to GPT-6 Sol and simple, frequent tasks to GPT-6 Luna, and adjust the reasoning effort level as needed.
For a business
Companies running AI tasks on the Amazon Bedrock platform can deploy newer models from OpenAI at a lower price than GPT-5.6, with enterprise security controls (IAM, CloudTrail, VPC PrivateLink) and a choice between a model for complex tasks and a model for high volumes of simple requests.
